Don't buy this £150 Epson Eco Tank printer deal at Amazon — I've found an even cheaper Epson ink tank printer that's basically identical in every possible way

Save yourself a little extra for what is essentially the exact same ink tank printer

I've seen a number of limited-time printer deals on Amazon right now, including a discounted Epson Eco Tank ET-2861, which is £150 right now (I've dropped a link at the bottom of the page). That's a great deal on a superb printer, but I'm begging you: don't buy it.

My advice? Save yourself an extra few quid and go for the Epson Eco Tank ET-2860 for £137 (was £240). Here's the big secret: they're effectively the same printer. There's no real difference beyond the name, with both able to print, scan, and copy, print from your phone, and the inclusion of three years' worth of ink in the box.

With decent speeds, this printer is perfect for the home or home office. What I particularly like about this model, besides the cost savings you get from an ink tank, is how simple it is to set up (I bought one for my hyper-technophobic mother and even she managed to work out how to use it). So, swerve the Eco Tank ET-2860 and go for Epson's ET-2861.

This is an ideal home and home office printer that, in my experience, prints fast, delivers good results, and keeps running costs low. I also really like the generous amount of ink you get in the box - four full bottles of the stuff that should last you up to three years before you need to buy any more.

If you're buying a home printer these days, I always recommend opting for an ink tank model. First of all, while not as cheap as an inkjet printer, running costs are a lot lower, with ink bottles costing less than replacement inkjet cartridges.

They boast all the benefits of an inkjet printer - expect vivid, high-resolution photos and highly readable text - with speeds only slightly lower than a laser printer. For me, they're a best-of-both-worlds choice.

And in my experience, and that of my team, Epson still more or less dominates this area of the printing market.

So, what's the difference between this cheap Eco Tank and the ET-2860? Nothing. The change in model number is usually specifying which shop you bought it from - typically, I see the ET-2860 at Argos, and the ET-2861 at Amazon. The dimensions, internals, specs, they're all the identical.

I've actually used the Eco Tank ET-2860 loads of times, and I came away impressed. It's quick to print, output is perfect for home printing, and contains a generous amount of ink packaged with the printer.

Identical in almost every way to the ET-2860, but with a moderately higher price-tag. It's a great budget ink tank printer packed with features. But save yourself some money and opt for the cheaper model number while it's on sale.

An ultra-cheap home printer, the Canon Pixma TR4755i is an inkjet that has more features than you might expect for the price. It can print, copy, scan, and fax, boasts an automatic document feeder, and even lets you automatically print double-sided.

This is a fantastic discount on a colour laser printer that's ideal for the home office or small and medium business use. It's got all the features I look for, including the ability to print, copy, scan, and fax, an ADF, and double-sided printing.

If you're printing documents, this black-and-white laser printer is offered with a nice discount right now. The big selling point here are the print speeds, which reach 29 monochrome pagers per minute. HP dubs it the "fastest two-=sided B&W printer in class."
