Watch Match of the Day for free on BBC i Player (UK)

Following on from 2025/26, Match of the Day will continue to be fronted by a trio of presenters in Mark Chapman, Kelly Cates and Gabby Logan for the Premier League 2026/27.

Beyond the presenters, there has also been a shake-up in the punditry line-up, with Dion Dublin, Martin Keown, Nedum Onuoha, Theo Walcott, Shay Given and Stephen Warnock all departing. But don't worry, the BBC already have their replacements lined up, with former Tottenham players Toby Alderweireld and Robbie Keane joining the team, alongside Thomas Frank, who was Spurs' manager at the beginning of last season. Ashley Young has also joined following his retirement.

MOTD is a godsend for footy fans who don't have access to live TV broadcasts from the likes of Sky Sports and TNT Sports. It neatly rounds up all the highlights of the day's Premier League action every Saturday night, with a sister show, Match of the Day 2, providing the same service on Sundays. Don't forget about the Champions League version of Match of the Day which joined the collection back in 2024.

Here's how to watch Match of the Day online and on TV from anywhere in the world, for free.

How to watch Match of the Day in the UK for free

Match of the Day is free-to-air on BBC One in the UK. It goes out live on Saturday nights roughly at 10:20pm BST, with Match of the Day 2 following on the same channel around the same time the next day.

There is also a continued addition to the BBC's football highlights portfolio this season, with Match of the Day: Champions League streaming every Wednesday following a matchday.

If you miss an episode, or simply prefer to watch it on a portable device, don't worry. Every Match of the Day episode is also available on BBC i Player.

Just keep in mind that each episode is only available to stream until the next episode airs, or for seven days after broadcast, whichever comes first.

To watch BBC i Player: Visit the BBC i Player website or download the apps (i OS/Android).

BBC i Player is FREE, but you will need to create an account, have a valid U. K. postcode (e.g. SE1 7PB) and a TV license.

Outside the UK? If you're currently traveling outside the UK, you can use this VPN (try risk-free) to watch UK TV from abroad. We recommend Nord VPN (75% off).

If you're keen to watch Match of the Day but you're away from the UK and access to the show is geo-blocked, then you could use a VPN to access it (assuming you're not breaching any broadcaster T&Cs, of course). You may be surprised by how simple it is to do. Plus, we have a great 75% discount on our #1 VPN...

Not having a VPN is like leaving your front door wide open in a busy city – anyone can walk right in and take a peek.
