HBO Max has arrived in the UK and there's a huge library for you to dive into. If you're struggling to choose from the best HBO Max shows, I've picked out three big ones to suit all tastes.

Whether you want teen drama, to escape into a fantasy world, or a gripping crime series, there's plenty on offer here. Elsewhere, those who love a good scare can check out 5 great horror movies I recommend on HBO Max.

3 gripping new Netflix drama shows to binge-watch in February 2026

Age rating: TV-MA Seasons: 2 (3 arriving soon) Creator: Sam Levinson Main cast: Zendaya, Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, Algee Smith, Sydney Sweeney, Colman Domingo, Javon Walton, Austin Abrams, Dominic Fike Episode length: 48–65 minutes

With a huge ensemble cast, Euphoria is one of HBO's biggest shows. Season 3 arrives on April 12, so now is the perfect time for TV fans in the UK to catch up.

Sam Levinson's drama series follows Zendaya's leading role as Rue Bennett, a troubled teenage drug addict who struggles to get sober and adjust to relationships after rehab. Rue is the central focus, but we do meet a lot of other characters along the way.

Set in the fictional town of East Highland, California, the show follows a group of high schoolers who are balancing the strains of love, loss, sex, and addiction, and they're all connected to Rue in some way.

Age rating: TV-MA Seasons: 1 (renewed for season 2) Creator: Brad Ingelsby Main cast: Mark Ruffalo, Tom Pelphrey, Emilia Jones, Fabien Frankel, Thuso Mbedu, Raúl Castillo Episode length: 58–65 minutes

If you want something to watch in one sitting, Task is only seven episodes long and will have you on the edge of your seat. It's been renewed for a second season too, so there's more coming if you enjoy it.

Task follows Mark Ruffalo as he plays Tom Brandis, a Catholic priest turned FBI agent based in Philadelphia, as he leads a task force to investigate violent robberies in the area.

Rachel Sennott's I Love LA is the best show to stream when HBO Max UK launches

HBO Max price: how much does it cost, is it cheaper than Netflix and Disney+, and more big questions answered

7 new movies and TV shows to watch this weekend (January 16)

Along with a team, he takes on a string of violent robberies against stash houses run by outlaw motorcycle gangs, and there's plenty of action ahead.

Age rating: TV-MA Seasons: 1 (renewed for season 2) Creators: Ira Parker and George R. R. Martin Main cast: Peter Claffey, Dexter Sol Ansell, Daniel Ings, Shaun Thomas, Tanzyn Crawford, Danny Webb Episode length: 30–42 minutes

This prequel to Game of Thrones is a must watch for fantasy fans, with my colleague Tom Power describing the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms as "a slam-Dunk of a high-fantasy show from HBO".

The series follows Ser Duncan "Dunk" the Tall, a lowborn hedge knight as he takes Prince Aegon "Egg" Targaryen as his squire. Across six episodes we follow the dynamic between these two, with some laugh out loud moments along the way.

Don't think it skips on the drama though, it's just as good as the original series and if you're keen to see more from the universe, it's well worth checking out.

Lucy is a long-time movie and television lover who is an approved critic on Rotten Tomatoes. She has written several reviews in her time, starting with a small self-ran blog called Lucy Goes to Hollywood before moving onto bigger websites such as What's on TV and What to Watch, with Tech Radar being her most recent venture. Her interests primarily lie within horror and thriller, loving nothing more than a chilling story that keeps her thinking moments after the credits have rolled. Many of these creepy tales can be found on the streaming services she covers regularly.

When she’s not scaring herself half to death with the various shows and movies she watches, she likes to unwind by playing video games on Easy Mode and has no shame in admitting she’s terrible at them. She also quotes The Simpsons religiously and has a Blinky the Fish tattoo, solidifying her position as a complete nerd.
