  • Returns to Starz from June 12, 2026
  • Will consist of eight episodes
  • Mekai Curtis, Patina Miller, London Brown, Malcolm Mays and more returning, Shameik Moore joins cast
  • Full trailer has been released
  • Two upcoming Power spinoffs are still in the works

All good things must come to an end, and hit Starz show Power-Book III: Raising Kanan season 5 will be its last outing.

If you've been following the Power franchise since Curtis Jackson (aka 50 Cent) took on the role of adult Kanan Stark in 2014, you'll know that Raising Kanan is one in a string of spinoffs, including Power Book II: Ghost and Power Book IV: Force, which ended earlier this year.

Set in the 1990s, Raising Kanan has been exploring the early years of Kanan Stark (Mekai Curtis) since 2021, as he gets into the drugs game and helps his mom's growing drugs business. We've seen plenty of violence, drama and scandal since then, and sadly, we've only got eight more episodes of it.

Here's everything we know about season 5 so far, from the first full trailer to confirmed cast and release date.

Power-Book III: Raising Kanan season 5 release date

Let's start with the good news: Power-Book III: Raising Kanan season 5 returns to Starz on June 12, 2026.

New episodes will then be streaming weekly on Fridays on the STARZ app, and all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms.

There are eight episodes in total, meaning the season finale will be on July 31, if there are no scheduling changes.

The season 5 trailer dropped on May 18, with this synopsis: "Kanan has become exactly who he was meant to be, and the Thomas family is ready for an all-out war."

Incredibly, it's also resolves the outstanding season 4 cliffhanger of whether Kanan actually killed his mother, Raq. Surprise... she's very much alive and well.

That doesn't necessarily mean she's off the hook, though, with the above trailer suggesting that a number of other people might want her to be bumped off too.

We're expecting the following main cast members to return for Power-Book III: Raising Kanan season 5:

While Moore is technically a new cast member, he made a surprise appearance during the season 4 finale, but will be a series regular going forward.

"The Power Universe fans have been patiently anticipating this moment and I'm honored to step into the iconic role of Breeze," Moore said in a statement when his casting was first announced.

"I jumped into a story that is already alive with such strong characters, but it was a fun challenge to find Breeze's unique identity, and I can't wait for fans to see how Breeze will shift dynamics in the story. It's gonna be a wild ride."

Luckily for us, Starz has gone into some exceptional detail when it comes to the synopsis of season 5.

As it explains, "Kanan Stark’s journey over the last four seasons of Raising Kanan has been fraught with ambition, betrayal and relentless attempts to escape his mother’s shadow. He once looked up to Raq, eager to join her empire, but he soon learned the truth about who she really was and the secrets she was hiding from him. Forced to confront this web of lies,

"Kanan faced an existential crisis of self-discovery and emerged stronger and more resolute than ever. Although he embraced his true self, and broke free from his mother’s influence, he still couldn’t let her crimes go unanswered."

It continues, "Now, in season 5, Kanan’s true ruthlessness takes shape. He knows exactly who he is and who he must become to defeat his enemies. As his relationship with Raq reaches a point of no return, and any chance of reconciliation becomes a distant memory, war is inevitable. Kanan solidifies his place in the Queens drug game alongside Breeze, the Southside legend, and their alliance sets the stage for a reckoning that will ripple through every player in this dangerous business.

"Many sacrifices will be made, whether it’s the Thomas family facing the collapse of their reign, Unique fighting to preserve his legacy or the Mafia maneuvering behind the scenes. However, nothing will stand in the way of Kanan’s pursuit of power. After all, this isn’t the end for Kanan Stark. It’s just the beginning."

Don't be silly, of course it's not. (Image credit: Starz)

Thankfully, no it isn't. Just because Raising Kanan is ending, Power still has two other spinoffs in production: Origins and Legacy.

More crucially, anybody who is still alive at the end of Raising Kanan has the chance to appear in Origins, which will follow the early lives of James "Ghost" St. Patrick and Tommy Egan in late-1990s and early-2000s New York.

We already know that Curtis will be reprising is role of Kanan for the next spinoff, with Spence Moore II playing young Ghost and Charlie Mann playing Egan.

Legacy will be a direct continuation of the original Power series rather than a prequel, following the returns of Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) and Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) to the streets of New York.
