Paramount confirms Call of Duty movie release date as June 30, 2028

Two Yellowstone spinoffs — 6666 and 1944 — still don't have any production details

Paramount's Call of Duty movie, set to be written by Yellowstone's Taylor Sheridan, has a confirmed release date of June 30, 2028, as producer Rob Kostich revealed at this year's Cinema Con.

“We want to make sure that the authenticity of it is captured on a human level so that it feels really real and infuse that with epic scope," he explained at Paramount's event [via The Hollywood Reporter].

“I told everyone we were only going to make a movie if it’s right. In David Ellison, we found that partnership,” he continued

We have no further details as of yet, but that's not what I'm concerned about. According to IMDB, Sheridan has 12 outstanding projects between now and 2028, including the Call of Duty movie.

Two of those projects — proposed Yellowstone spinoffs 6666 and 1944 — could now be hugely at risk now that the new movie's release date is confirmed.

Let's break down the Sheridan projects we're expecting to see in the next two years. For TV alone, we've got new seasons of The Madison, Marshals, Landman, Tulsa King, Lioness, and Mayor of Kingstown to be released.

This is without Dutton Ranch, the Yellowstone spinoff launching on Paramount+ from May 15.

Then we've got Frisco King, a Tulsa King spinoff starring Samuel L. Jackson, expected to be released at some point in 2027. Exhausted yet?

Alongside the Call of Duty movie, Sheridan is also writing for 2027 the action thriller movie F. A. S. T, starring 1923 alum Brandon Sklenar and Sam Claflin.

The above takes us up to 10 projects, which is no mean feat. Given that shows like Landman and Lioness seem to be aiming for a "one a year" release date schedule, I'd put my money on seeing the first 9 TV titles all available to stream by the end of 2027.

That leaves two projects in the lurch: Yellowstone spinoffs 6666 (announced in 2021) and 1944 (announced in 2023). Yet in 2026, we still know very little about either.

We're expecting 1944 to chronicle the final years of World War II and a new generation of the Dutton family, while 6666 supposedly follows Jimmy Hurdstram's (Jefferson White) new life. In short, they're two projects that clearly need a lot of effort and attention.

If progress continues this slowly, both spinoffs may remain on the creative back burner for years to come. The confirmation of Call of Duty's release schedule only pushes them further away, with scripts needing rewrites and alterations well into the production process.

Sheridan's spinning a lot of plates here, and something's got to give.
